Gamtel to benefit from World Bank development project

2 Apr 2015

Gambian incumbent PSTN operator Gamtel – which includes mobile operator Gamcel – is set to undergo a strategic audit under a project co-financed by the government and the World Bank. APANews.net reports that Gambia’s government secured financing in partnership with the World Bank to implement a ‘Human Resource Planning Audit and Strategy Development’ for the telco, while the Project Implementation Unit of the West Africa Regional Communications Infrastructure Programme (WARCIP) is helping select consultants to conduct the audit. Aims of the project include optimising human resources and all other costs at the telco, including non-monetary resources, under a plan to restructure Gamtel, including a transformation and repositioning of Gamcel.
