Dhiraagu launches 100Mbps fibre broadband

Dhivehi Raajjeyge Gulhun (Dhiraagu), the Maldives’ incumbent telecoms operator, has announced the launch of its new ‘Fibre Broadband’ service, which provides maximum download speeds of up to 100Mbps. Coverage of the fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network is currently available in Hulhumale and the capital Male. Two plans are available, with the entry-level ‘Fibre 50M’ package priced at MVR3,500 (USD226) per month for down/upload connection rates of 50Mbps/10Mbps, and the premium ‘Fibre 100M’ offerings speeds of 100Mbps/20Mbps for MVR4,990 per month. ‘We are delighted to roll out the fastest broadband internet service in the Maldives. This is an important first step in the process of rolling out fibre based products to homes,’ commented Dhiraagu’s assistant manager of Public Relations, Imjad Jaleel, adding: ‘With the introduction of Fibre Broadband, the choice of internet packages just got a lot better with a range of packages now included in our portfolio for different customer segments. Fibre broadband allows customers to enjoy a whole new broadband based entertainment experience.’
