Google Fiber has confirmed that Salt Lake City (Utah) will join Atlanta (Georgia), Nashville (Tennessee) and Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham (both North Carolina) on its list of prospective metropolitan markets. Salt Lake City, Google Fiber notes will now enter the ‘design phase’, and over the coming months the Gigabit provider plans to work closely with the city authorities to map out its deployment plans.
According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Google Fiber is currently commercially available in Kansas City and Provo (Utah), while the sign-up process got underway in Austin (Texas) in December 2014. In January this year Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville and Raleigh-Durham were added to the company’s deployment slate.
