PTS investigating Tele2’s ‘major disturbances’

25 Mar 2015

Swedish telecoms regulator PTS is initiating ‘supervision’ of cellco Tele2’s operations after ‘major disturbances’ on its network, a press release stated yesterday. PTS took the decision after extensive disruptions that affected Tele2’s Swedish mobile network customers in late-February; the problem was caused by ‘a misconfiguration, resulting in a denial of the whole network’, leading to a large number of subscribers being affected simultaneously. The watchdog says it will review and monitor the measures which Tele2 intends to implement to prevent similar incidents from happening again, as well as proposed measures intended to minimise the consequences of any future incidents.
