MTS Belarus hikes Ethernet prices from 1 April

24 Mar 2015

Mobile operator turned broadband provider MTS Belarus is raising the cost of some of its Ethernet-based ‘Home Connect’ services from 1 April 2015, reports. The cost of its Home Connect 1 tariff will rise by BYR35,000 (USD2.39) to BYR,135,000, Home Connect 2 is rising BYR25,000 to BYR155,000 and Home Connect 3 is increasing by BYR10,000 to BYR195,000. The cost of Home Connect 4 remains the same.

TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database notes that in August 2014 MTS Belarus expanded its Ethernet network to more residential areas in the capital Minsk and other regional centres, and announced a cut in internet tariffs – effective 1 September. Under the expansion, MTS Belarus extended fixed broadband internet service in the district of Masyukovshchina (Minsk), Beryozovka (Brest), Zadneprovye (Mogilyov), parts of Grodno, as well as a number of other locations in the capital. At that date, tariff rates for its Home Connect branded packages fell by between 20% for its entry-level service, and 45% for its premium plan.
