President signs MNP amendment; portability could take effect this month

President Almazbek Atambayev of Kyrgyzstan has reportedly signed a new amendment to the Law of Telecommunications and Post (LTP), related to the introduction of mobile number portability (MNP). Local news site Tazabek, which cites a bulletin from the presidential press service, reports that the amendments were endorsed by the Jogorku Kenesh Supreme Council on 28 January and signed into law by Atambayev on 16 March. Going forward, the MNP law is expected to come into force 15 days after being signed into law.
