Orange Romania investing half a billion euros in three years

20 Mar 2015

Orange Romania, the country’s largest cellcos by subscribers, will invest around EUR500 million (USD536 million) in the next three years, it was announced at a press conference in Cluj Napoca by the company’s CEO, Jean Francois Fallacher. Romanian newspaper ZF reports that the investment will be spent by 2018, as part of the French parent Orange Group’s EUR15 billion investment in European networks in 2015-17. Although the Romanian CEO did not break down details of the planned investments, when asked if Orange will target construction of fixed infrastructure and/or acquisitions, Fallacher replied that the operator is campaigning for changes in regulations obliging companies with fixed infrastructure to open access to rivals just as mobile operators are obliged to do.
