Mexican wireline firm Axtel has signed an accord with America Movil (AM) and its mobile subsidiary Radiomovil Dipsa (Telcel), under which both parties have agreed to terminate various disputes related to interconnection services. As part of the agreement, Axtel and Telcel have executed interconnection agreements for the years 2005-2015, inclusive. At the same time, Axtel, Telcel and [wireline sister company] Telefonos de Mexico (Telmex) have agreed to relinquish several interconnection-related claims between the parties. Under the agreement, and after the settlement of all amounts which had been in dispute or pending payment (either in favour or against it), Axtel has received a net payment of MXN950 million (USD61.8 million) from AM. Meanwhile, in a separate transaction, Axtel and affiliates of Grupo Iusacell have entered into an agreement under which both parties have terminated interconnection-related disputes between them for the period 2005-2010.
