Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's Superfibra!

17 Mar 2015

Telecom Italia (TI) has launched its ‘Superfibra’ high speed broadband service, offering download speeds of up to 50Mbps and uploads of up to 10Mbps. The service utilises the telco’s fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) networks, which have already been deployed in 130 cities, covering more than 30% of Italy’s population. TI expects to have reached 75% population coverage with FTTC by the end of 2017. VDSL equipment is used to connect the fibre-enabled street cabinet to the end user, and the telco says it is currently trialling vectoring technology which will enable peak download speeds to be pushed up to 100Mbps, with uploads of up to 50Mbps.
