PrimeTel 4G coverage nears 60%, 3G covers 99.99%

13 Mar 2015

Theodosis Theodosiou, chief commercial officer (CCO) at Cypriot quadruple-play operator PrimeTel, has confirmed that his company now operates its own, independent 3G/4G mobile network nationwide, with 3G services covering 99.99% of the population alongside 4G LTE population coverage of 50%. Furthermore, the CCO told TeleGeography today that PrimeTel plans to increase LTE coverage to 60% over the next two months. 3G services were commercially launched over PrimeTel’s own network on 23 February 2015, ahead of the commercial LTE service launch on 10 March 2015. Consequently, PrimeTel is operating as a full mobile network operator (MNO) in direct competition with Cytamobile and MTN Cyprus, and is no longer operating as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO).
