Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), Taiwan’s largest cellco by subscribers, has said it expects the number of customers that have taken up its 4G service, launched in May 2014, to surpass two million by the end of March 2015. According to Digitimes, with Chunghwa having reported a total of 1.33 million Long Term Evolution (LTE) accesses on its books at the end of 2014, the cellco’s estimate for the end of the current quarter is based on the subscriber growth it has recorded so far this year. Such growth, meanwhile, has reportedly been driven in part by the strategy of offering tariffs which provide an unlimited data usage allowance. As such, Chunghwa has confirmed that it intends to continue with this data pricing strategy until at least the end of 2015.
