GO ahead: operating profit up 21% at Maltese telco

Maltese mobile and fixed line operator GO (formerly Maltacom) has reported a 21% year-on-year jump in operating profit for the twelve months to 31 December 2014, from EUR18.0 million (USD19.4 million) in 2013 to EUR21.8 million last year. Revenues were stable at EUR122.3 million, while profit before tax climbed from EUR15.6 million to EUR20.3 million due to lower operating costs. Although sales in the fixed line telephony sector dropped, there was a positive performance at GO’s mobile unit. The firm says it will continue investment in its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) networks in 2015, complementing its existing nationwide ADSL infrastructure.
