Swisscom Liechtenstein officially launches LTE

10 Mar 2015

Swisscom has announced that its network users in Liechtenstein can now access faster mobile internet speeds courtesy of its newly issued multi-band frequencies for 4G LTE services in the Principality which became valid for usage last month. Swisscom said in a website release that it has expanded its mobile network in recent months, while ‘after almost a year of testing’, the new frequencies allow LTE speeds of up to 150Mbps (theoretical), with all customers with an LTE-capable device able to gain advantage. Swisscom adds that its new technology-neutral 900MHz/1800MHz/2100MHz spectrum became commercially usable on 24 February, and the operator – one of three cellcos active in the tiny state – intends to implement further network coverage/capacity expansion in Liechtenstein in the future. Swisscom notes that it also provides Liechtenstein-based users with international LTE data roaming in 40 countries.
