10 Mar 2015

Romanian quadruple-play operator RCS&RDS, which offers mobile services under the Digi Mobil brand, announced in a press release that as of this month it has increased the mobile internet speeds on its 3G network to 21.6Mbps download and 5.8Mbps upload in the capital Bucharest and 24 other cities and seaside resorts. The upgraded 3G speeds have been implemented in both 2100MHz and 900MHz frequency bands in areas covered by Digi Mobil’s own network. RCS&RDS adds that it also continues to invest in expanding the mobile network in the UMTS 900MHz band both in areas currently covered by the 2100MHz network and in new areas. Digi Mobil – the youngest and smallest of Romania’s four mobile networks – offers packages with prices starting from EUR2 (USD2.17) per month (VAT included) to EUR10 (discounted to EUR8 if a customer ports their phone number to Digi from a rival network); unlimited calls to any domestic and international fixed networks (plus Digi numbers) plus unlimited (domestic) mobile internet can be added, starting at EUR4 per month.
