Bright House to introduce 300Mbps connectivity in Tampa, Central Florida

9 Mar 2015

US cableco Bright House Networks has announced that it is poised to double downlink transmission speeds in Tampa and Central Florida to 300Mbps later this month, with uplink speeds rising to 15Mbps. Going forward, the advanced speeds will be extended throughout Bright House’s ‘full Florida service area’, it said.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Bright House Networks owns and operates a hybrid fibre-coaxial (HFC) network covering the metropolitan areas of Florida, Alabama, California, Indiana and Michigan. In late-2009 the company introduced DOCSIS 3.0 to the Tampa Bay area of Florida, before extending the platform to central parts of the same state in May 2010.
