Movistar Chile has selected Chinese vendor Huawei to deploy Long Term Evolution (LTE) in the 700MHz band across 13 regions to augment the operator’s existing 2600MHz 4G platform. In addition, the partnership will see Huawei roll out 3G to 366 locations and two routes, whilst 158 rural schools will also receive internet access. The cellco’s general manager Roberto Munoz added that Movistar currently serves around 300,000 LTE subscribers, and its 4G network carries roughly 30TB of data per day.
