Rwanda’s Ministry of Youth and ICT (MYICT) has entered into a partnership agreement with equipment vendor Ericsson to design a roadmap and deploy solutions and services required to create a fully functioning knowledge-based society. This new agreement will facilitate the implementation of ‘SMART Rwanda’, with the aim of positioning Rwanda as an ICT hub for the region. Ericsson will act as an advisor, systems integrator, and implementation partner for the SMART Rwanda solutions.
Fredrik Jejdling, head of the Sub-Saharan Africa Department at Ericsson, said: ‘Rwanda’s ICT landscape has significantly evolved over the last few years. Our role as a trusted advisor will see the deployment of services such as e-health, e-education, e-government, smart utilities and cybersecurity protection, to fully leverage the infrastructure investment and empower people to reach their full potential.’
