2 Mar 2015

GTA, a provider of fixed and mobile telephony, internet access and digital television services in Guam, has announced plans to increase coverage of its LTE network to 95% of populated areas by September 2015. The company launched 4G services in October 2013 and last year reached an agreement to acquire 42MHz of wireless spectrum, doubling its spectrum holdings to 97MHz and boosting its capacity to meet the growing demand for high speed cellular services. As part of plans to further improve LTE coverage this year, GTA will add 21 new sites to include one on Andersen Airforce Base in Yigo. In addition, the company is building additional 3G sites and will invest over USD20 million in various network improvements during 2015. Robert Haulbrook, GTA president and CEO, commented: ‘We continue to see a large demand for wireless data. With the introduction of new technology like LTE, we are able to deliver better call quality, fewer dropped calls, and faster data speeds when customers are away from home. At GTA, our mission is to expand coverage, drive investments, and deliver Guam’s most advanced wireless experience to island residents.’
