Poland’s number-four cellular operator P4, which trades under the ‘Play’ brand, has reported a 21% increase in usage revenues for full-year 2014 to PLN3.52 billion (USD957 million). Total revenue climbed 18% to PLN4.39 billion, while adjusted EBITDA for the year rose 52% to PLN1.07 billion. The firm attributed the positive results to strong growth in its contract user base, with contract subscribers accounting for 67% of overall subscriber base growth in 2014; Play added 1.55 million net new users in 2014 to reach 12.29 million subscribers by end-December.

Jorgen Bang-Jensen, President of P4, commented: ‘Play had a very successful year commercially and financially. With 12.3 million subscribers we have achieved 21.3% market share [company’s own claim], delivered 4G LTE to 73% of the Polish population and exceeded one million active LTE users in 2014.’
