Ericsson App experience to optimise XL Axiata network

Sweden’s Ericsson says it has optimised Indonesian mobile operator XL Axiata’s network to deliver an improved performance for applications such as Facebook, writes Telecom Lead. The vendor claims that end users’ ‘app experience’ – in terms of speed to complete transactions – improved by between 20% and 70%, while ‘time to content’ was up to 70% better and ‘upload time’ improved by 50%. Ameet Suri, partnerships manager at Facebook, commented: ‘This methodology will help operators cost-effectively target network improvements in the areas that affect users most, thereby delivering greater utility for the two-thirds of the world not yet connected. Initially launched with XL Axiata, we are excited to expand the programme to more operators who have expressed an interest.’
