18 Feb 2015

ArmenTel, which offers fixed and mobile services in Armenia under the Beeline banner of its Russian parent Vimpelcom, has announced the launch of fibre-to-the-building (FTTB) services in the capital Yerevan. Beeline’s new offer boasts four tariff plans with speeds of 10Mbps, 35Mbps, 50Mbps and 70Mbps, priced at AMD5,000 (USD10.44), AMD7,000, AMD10,000 and AMD13,000 per month, respectively.

In a news conference to mark the launch, ArmenTel vice president Andrei Patoka said: ‘For us the launch of fibre-optic internet services in Yerevan is a very significant event, which was preceded by significant investment and modernisation of the infrastructure. Today Beeline is the leader in the internet market of Armenia, and we owe it to ADSL technology, which we introduced a few years ago. We intend to prove once again our leadership in this market and act again as the engine of this market’s development.’ At launch, FTTB is being offered to residents of the capital’s 7th, 8th and 9th Nork districts and in Avan district, although Beeline will be actively expanding the geography of the service in the capital, Patoka added.
