16 Feb 2015

Tanzania Telecommunications Company Ltd (TTCL) has disclosed plans to invest TZS3.4 billion (USD1.8 million) on delivering mobile and internet access to 20 underserved Tanzanian districts by the end of March 2015. Local website Daily News cites TTCL chief commercial official Mr Hussein Nguvu as saying that the project is being partly bankrolled by the Universal Communications Service Access Fund (UCSAF) contract that the telco was awarded in February 2014. Nguyu commented: ‘Our aim is to cover all areas of the country with the services. We believe that through the UCSAF we will [cover] all rural areas that are still struggling to boost their economy and business in general.’
