UK-backed Vodafone Ireland has reportedly staged discussions with satellite TV giant Sky, alongside other unspecified industry players, regarding the potential launch of TV services, in a move that would turn the telco into a quad-play provider. According to the Irish Independent, Vodafone Ireland plans to stage pay-TV trials before the summer, with Vodafone Group’s chief executive Vittorio Calao commenting : ‘The more aggressive the non-mobile people are in mobile, the more aggressive we will be in TV and broadband.’ Currently, Vodafone’s Irish arm offers wireless, broadband and fixed telephony connectivity.
