Rostelecom fibre network covers 25m Russian households

Russian national operator Rostelecom has announced that its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network was extended to an additional 6.6 million households during 2014, increasing its fibre footprint to 25 million homes. Sergey Kalugin, president of Rostelecom, commented: ‘We expanded our fibre-optic network at a faster pace in 2014 … Our aim is to increase our coverage to 33 million households over the next two years, meaning we could then offer fibre-optic broadband services to two-thirds of the Russian population.’
