Chinese vendor ZTE has completed large capacity testing of voice-over-Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) technology for China Mobile, the world’s largest wireless provider by subscribers. The trials used ZTE’s IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) solutions and featured tests of network and service function as well as performance and interoperability testing. The vendor noted that its solutions ‘delivered robust and stable network performance, fully fulfilling customer requirements, demonstrating VoLTE capacity, voice quality and continuity that exceeded projections.’ According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, China Mobile is the world’s largest provider of LTE services by subscribers, claiming 90.064 million 4G users at end-2014, up from 40.95 million three months earlier.
