NEC and Axiata ink global mobile backhaul agreement

10 Feb 2015

Japan-based NEC Corporation has announced the signing of a global framework agreement with Malaysia’s Axiata Group covering the provision, installation and related maintenance services for the former’s iPASOLINK Series of ultra-compact microwave communication systems. This deal reportedly covers Axiata’s subsidiaries in Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and Bangladesh; NEC had previously only provided the iPASOLINK Series under individual arrangements to Indonesia’s XL Axiata and Sri Lankan operator Dialog.

Commenting on the deal, Toshiya Matsuki, CEO of NEC Asia Pacific was cited as saying: ‘It’s a great honour for us to be chosen by the Axiata Group as its strategic supplier. NEC is strongly committed to making further contributions to enhance the Axiata Group’s mobile networks, while trying to achieve higher functionality, an expanded product line-up and better maintenance services for the iPASOLINK Series.’
