Nepal Telecom deploying 77 new base stations in Kathmandu valley

9 Feb 2015

Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (Nepal Telecom) is deploying 77 new base transceiver stations (BTS) towers across the Kathmandu valley to improve the quality of its telecoms and data services in the area. The state-backed telco says that the work will be completed by end-February, with plans to expand the initiative to other parts of Nepal in future. Nepal telecom managing director Buddhi Prasad Acharya said that additional BTS will solve the problem of black spots in the area arising from frequency-related issues and from one base station occasionally blocking another, which has affected service quality. All the 77 new BTS towers being installed are located outside the Ring Road, and will build upon the current 430 BTS towers in the valley.
