T-Mobile CR launches mobile TV platform; picks Allegro DVT for OTT solution

6 Feb 2015

The Czech Republic’s leading mobile operator by subscribers, T-Mobile Czech Republic, has announced the launch of a new mobile TV platform, and says it has selected Allegro DVT’s transcoders to build its over-the-top (OTT) platform, to provide the cellco’s six million subscribers with access to TV broadcasting on the move. The Allegro solution is based on AL2400, which the vendor describes as ‘a hardware-accelerated dense all-in-one OTT delivery system’. AL2400 can handle the transcoding and packaging in all OTT TV formats, and can integrate with encryption, subtitling and advertisement insertion ecosystem. The cellco says its mobile TV service currently offers 49 live broadcast services via iOS and Android applications.
