Movistar Chile postpones residential VoIP launch until 2019

5 Feb 2015

Telefonica-backed Movistar Chile has postponed the launch of its residential voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) service, online journal reports, citing documentation from telecoms regulator Sub-Secretaria de Telecomunicaciones (Subtel). According to the report, the telco – which first registered its interest in launching an internet telephony product back in 2012 – is now obliged to commercially launch the service within 48 months. The article indicates that Movistar requested the postponement as part of its ‘business strategy’.
