SmartLabs upgrades Caucasus Online IPTV service

SmartLabs has announced the implementation of its interactive TV solution for Georgian fixed line operator Caucasus Online and the successful migration of the firm’s existing subscriber base to the upgraded TV service. Following an open tender, SmartLabs was selected to upgrade Caucasus’ existing IPTV infrastructure with its SmartTUBE Service Delivery Platform (SDP), SmartMEDIA suite of on-demand solutions and SML-482 set-top boxes (STBs) from SmartLabs. The upgrade, which includes an improved user interface with simplified navigation and new services, was completed in less than six months and without service downtime or customer disturbance. In the near future SmartLabs and Caucasus Online plan to extend the TV services further with the introduction of OTT multiscreen services. Caucasus Online currently serves around 150,000 customers across Georgia, offering a full range of IP technology-based services, including internet via FTTx and wireless broadband networks, fixed telephony, IPTV and web hosting.
