StarHub testing Huawei’s LampSite solution to boost indoor coverage

29 Jan 2015

Singapore mobile operator StarHub has launched a commercial trial of Chinese vendor Huawei’s LampSite indoor coverage service at two locations in the city-state. LampSite enables the cellco to amalgamate its two existing 4G frequency allocations in the 1800MHz and 2600MHz bands onto a single system (akin to carrier aggregation), to deliver peak download speeds of up to 300Mbps. Telecompaper notes that the LampSite solution utilises multi-mode/multi-band operation via a single platform (pRRU) and also uses MIMO and LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) technologies. Huawei says the platform is capable of supporting 2×20MHz LTE carriers and Wi-Fi.
