ANE to reserve 100MHz block of 2300MHz spectrum for mobile use

28 Jan 2015

Colombia’s Agencia Nacional del Espectro (ANE) has published a draft resolution outlining plans to reserve a 100MHz block of spectrum in the 2300MHz-2400MHz band for future mobile broadband use. The watchdog notes that the band currently has ‘low occupancy’, meaning that the migration of existing users is likely to take less time than usual. Further, the ANE notes that other frequency resources, such as the yet-to-be auctioned ‘Digital Dividend’ 700MHz band only encompass 90MHz of available spectrum. The draft document is open for comment until 6 February.
