No sale for Albtelecom, says CEO

27 Jan 2015

The CEO of Albtelecom and Eagle Mobile, Erkan Tabak, has denied rumours that the operator might soon be snapped up by German giant Deutsche Telekom. In an interview with Monitor Magazine, the official dismissed the reports, alleging that they had been ‘generated on purpose to slow down our inevitable growth.’ Mr Tabak explained that Albtelecom’s performance in 2014 was ‘very good’, pointing out the success of its IPTV launch in April, and adding that the operator had outlined plans to invest EUR50 million (USD56.09 million) in 2015 and 2016 in 4G technology, IPTV decoders and its fibre-optic backbone.
