IP freely: open network welcomes Telenor to service provider range

26 Jan 2015

The Telenor Sweden group has gained access to an additional platform to market its triple-play services to end users via an agreement with open fibre network operator IP-Only. This quarter, Telenor’s consumer broadband internet, TV and telephony service brands Bredbandsbolaget, Canal Digital and Ownit will be made available alongside the existing range of options for end users connected to IP-Only’s open fibre network, a press release on IP-Only’s website reveals. Similar deals are now commonplace across Sweden between all broadband, TV and telephony service providers and regional open fibre networks, while major national broadband providers including TeliaSonera, Telenor and Com Hem also have their own open fibre network divisions – in Telenor’s case OpenNet – through which they have been steadily acquiring formerly independent regional open networks, TeleGeography notes.

Sweden-based IP-Only owns fibre transmission infrastructure connecting the Nordic capitals Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen and Helsinki and many cities in between. In Sweden, IP-Only operates a growing number of urban fibre access networks, in addition to rolling out a national fibre transport network plus multiple data centres offering colocation and cloud services to corporate clients. All its networks are open and neutral.
