PSRC grants additional mobile frequencies to Orange Armenia

Armenia’s telecoms regulator the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) confirmed yesterday that it will allow domestic mobile operator Orange Armenia to use additional radio frequencies to expand wireless coverage and improve the quality of services in a number of regions across the country. The head of the department with responsibility for telecoms, Gevorg Gevorgyan, confirmed that the Orange Group-owned subsidiary will be issued with rights for additional spectrum in 42 communication areas, as well as providing it with frequencies to roll out services in a number of uncovered villages in the regions of Vayots Dzor, Tavush and Kotayk.

Orange Armenia launched on 5 November 2009, since when it has invested more than EUR277 million (USD320 million) in its operations, including EUR51 million for the licence, and today provides a full range of voice and data services to more than 97% of the Armenian population.
