Tigo launches cable TV in La Paz

Tigo Bolivia has launched its Tigo Star cable TV services in the capital city La Paz, following on from its initial launch in Santa Cruz last November. The firm says it is also planning to introduce cable services in Cochabamba, NexTV LatAm reports. Tigo Star offers three packages: 67 channels for USD24.30 a month, 98 channels for USD30.40 or 98 channels plus twelve high definition (HD) channels for USD37.40. Tigo, Bolivia’s second-largest mobile operator, also offers cable broadband internet services over its new HFC network, while it also offers TV services via direct to home (DTH) satellite technology in rural areas and Multichannel Multipoint Distribution Service (MMDS) in urban regions.
