Moscow City Telephone Network (MGTS) has published an update on its operational status at the end of 2014, ComNews reports. The operator confirmed that the final stage deployment of its GPON backbone network is 90% complete in Moscow, and available to more than 3.5 million homes and businesses in the capital – a doubling in coverage when compared to the same period in 2013. With a total of 1.1 million subscribers to GPON-based broadband internet offerings, MGTS says that the penetration of bundled services now exceeds 50% of the total, with double- and triple-play subscriptions standing at over 550,000 (up 75% y-o-y).
In the corporate segment, MGTS also reported a greater than 50% y-o-y growth in subscribers, with the penetration of users taking multiple service packages now exceeding 25% of the total, compared to just 10% previously. The carrier notes that the most common option taken is a triple-play bundle of digital TV, internet access and voice telephony. The number of corporate subscribers of digital TV has grown six-fold in comparison with December 2013, it said.
