Vectra issued fine for automatically renewing customer contracts

16 Jan 2015

Polish cableco Vectra has been issued a fine of PLN493,252 (USD132,590) by the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK), Broadband TV News reports. The operator received the penalty for automatically renewing fixed-period contracts by six-months upon their expiry, rather than contacting customers with proposals regarding prolonging the contracts. The decision is not final, however, and Vectra is appealing against the ruling.
