3.176 million Portuguese numbers ported since NP launch in 2001

Data from Portuguese regulator the Autoridade Nacional de Comunicacoes (ANACOM) has revealed that, since the launch of fixed number portability (FNP) and mobile number portability (MNP) services in Portugal in June 2001 and January 2002, respectively, a total of 3.176 million numbers had been transferred to other operators. As of 31 December 2014, 1.641 million ports were fixed telephony numbers, while 1.532 million were mobile numbers. An additional 3,176 ports are classified as ‘non-geographic services’. The new total represents an increase from 2.408 million in December 2013 (1.542 million fixed, 863,884 mobile and 2,632 non-geographic) and 1.958 million at the end of 2012 (1.418 million fixed, 537,713 mobile and 1,904 non-geographic).
