TE strikes infrastructure, international communications deals with MobiNil and Vodafone

Telecom Egypt (TE) has reportedly inked deals worth a total of EGP15 billion (USD2.1 billion) with local cellcos MobiNil and Vodafone Egypt for infrastructure and international communications services. Both infrastructure agreements are understood be taking affect from this month, with the MobiNil deal lasting for five years, while the one with Vodafone Egypt is slightly shorter, at three years. According to Daily News Egypt, meanwhile, the agreements related to the provision of international telecommunications services will be valid for four years with each company, with TE taking 35% of the revenues generated. Over the duration of the agreements TE has reportedly said it expects to generate a minimum profit of EGP3 billion.
