Bakcell attracts 62% of all Azerbaijani MNP transfers

13 Jan 2015

62.5% of all Azerbaijani mobile number portability (MNP) users, who have switched operators since the service launched in February 2014, have switched to Bakcell, according to a press release from the cellco. As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, official data from the Ministry of Communication and High Technologies last week revealed that Azerbaijan’s MNP service had attracted 12,000 users to date; of which 7,500 transferred to Bakcell. Richard Shearer, the cellco’s CEO, commented: ‘Taking into consideration the fact that MNP [has been] offered in the local market for less than a year, we can already say that this is a very good result for us.’
