Rostelecom inks USD159m loan to fund network expansion; completes northwest backbone

Russian telecoms service provider Rostelecom has secured a RUB10 billion (USD159.3 million) loan as the first tranche of a wider credit facility to be used for the implementation of its RUB163 billion network rollout programme, Cnews reports. Separately, the operator has reportedly completed the installation of a regional backbone network in northwestern Russia, using equipment supplied by two local companies, IRE and T8. It is understood that Rostelecom also deployed infrastructure to improve its network at nodes located in Siberia, the Volga and other federal districts.
