UPC announces price hike for TV, telephony services

5 Jan 2015

Cableco UPC Ireland has announced price increases to its Horizon television services to be implemented from 1 February, followed by a hike in telephony rates effective from 3 March. A UPC spokesperson commented that the changes will allow the operator to ‘invest in giving customers more entertainment than ever before and providing unbeatable superfast broadband services’, adding that the increases ‘arise mainly from increased operational costs and revised content and copyright charges from channel and content providers’. The Irish Times claims that the monthly cost of broadband, television and telephony bundle packages will rise to nearly EUR100 (USD120), up from the current EUR75-EUR85 per month, and will affect over half a million UPC Ireland subscribers. Details of the price changes are available on UPC’s website.
