SNOW drop: BASE to halt triple-play service

18 Dec 2014

KPN’s Belgian subsidiary BASE Company has confirmed that it is to withdraw its triple-play fixed voice, internet and TV packages, which are marketed under the SNOW brand, from the end of July next year. The firm plans to concentrate on its mobile operations, explaining that it was no longer economically viable to support its packages of fixed line services, having signed up just 35,000 users for the SNOW service since it debuted in 2012. Existing SNOW customers are being offered a free activation on an equivalent triple-play package at another Belgian provider, Scarlet Telecom. With 2.93 million subscribers at the end of September 2014, BASE Company is the smallest of Belgium’s three cellular operators.
