Tango to become first to launch LTE-A in Luxembourg

16 Dec 2014

Luxembourg’s second largest cello by subscribers, Tango, has announced plans to roll out an LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network over the first quarter of 2015, making it the country’s first mobile provider to launch such services. Under the ‘4G+’ banner, the network will offer speeds up to 225Mbps, an increase from the current 150Mbps download rates available over the operator’s 4G network launched in October 2012. The ‘largest, most populated areas’ of Luxembourg will be the first to benefit from the new technology, namely Luxembourg City, Esch-sur-Alzette, Differdange, Schifflange, Bertrange and Rodange, with 4G+ becoming available to customers already subscribing to 4G services, before expansion continues throughout 2015 to cover the entire country. Tango’s managing director Jean-Francois Williame commented: ‘This step forward opens up new opportunities for our customers.’
