IG Telecom and O3b team up in Gabon

16 Dec 2014

Gabonese internet service provider (ISP) IG Telecom signed a partnership with satellite broadband capacity provider O3b Networks on 10 December 2014 to improve its coverage and quality of services across Gabon, including some areas of the country where connectivity was previously patchy or non-existent, targeting wholesale customers including mobile network operators as well as companies in various sectors. As reported by Agence Ecofin, via the new deal IG Telecom will take advantage of O3b’s medium earth orbit satellites which reduce latency in data transmission. Bercky Lufwa Mayedo Ngoua, commercial director of IG Telecom, said that via the O3b connectivity the company will offer a range of solutions to various operators to connect their network, anytime, anywhere, quickly and reliably, while transmitting and receiving data at a lower cost and receiving a higher speed and better quality.
