Telkom SA launches LTE-A in five additional suburbs

15 Dec 2014

Telkom South Africa has deployed its LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network in five additional South African suburbs, a month after the technology was deployed in the upscale Johannesburg suburb of Parkview, TechCentral reports. ‘Telkom’s LTE-A offer is comparable to speeds available over a fibre network and offers a compelling alternative to fixed-line solutions for high-speed connectivity’, the telco disclosed. Potential users in Illovo and Melrose (Gauteng), Sea Point and Three Anchor Bay (Cape Town), and Umhlanga (KwaZulu-Natal [KZN]) can now subscribe to the service, which offers download speeds of up to 150Mbps, for ZAR1,399 (USD120.98) per month over the course of a 36-month contract period; the plan comes with a 100GB data allowance.
