Megacom expands network coverage

Kyrgyzstan’s largest mobile operator by market share, Megacom, has expanded its network coverage in the province of Jalal-Abad, according to Telecompaper, with 5,000 more residents now able to access mobile services in the villages of Aral, Atay, Birdik and Karl-Marx. Existing base transceiver station (BTS) capacities have been increased and new BTS have been deployed. TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database shows Megacom as having 37.2% of the Kyrgyz mobile subscriber share at the end of September 2014, ahead of competitors Sky Mobile (35.8% at the same date), Nur Telecom (22.5%), SoTel (2.4%) and Katel (1.8%).
