Luxembourg-based mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) Join Experience – a 50/50 joint venture of incumbent telco Post Luxembourg and Join Wireless – has expanded its services into Belgium, opening a store in the municipality of Messancy, according to Telecompaper.
Join Experience (registered as Blue Communications) launched mobile operations in Luxembourg in January 2014, initially selling its services from three retail outlets across the country with plans to open more national stores throughout the year before expanding into Belgium. Billing itself on its website as ‘the first mobile network operator to offer a European tariff equal to the national rate,’ Join intends to offer ‘complete communication freedom thanks to its improved 3G, 3G+ and 4G network and dedicated Cloud infrastructure’ and to always connect subscribers to the best available 4G network. The operator offers plans (currently with a Christmas discount) ranging from EUR7.95 (USD9.80) to EUR74.95 per month, including minutes, SMS and data which can be used to communicate with other European countries and when roaming across the continent. Join also offers family discounts and cheaper rates for receiving calls.
To expand its MVNO services into Belgium, Join Experience signed an MVNO partnership in May 2014 with network operator BASE Company (the Belgian mobile subsidiary of Dutch telecoms group KPN).
Join Experience’s business plan also includes expanding its local presence to other countries including France and Germany. Part-owner Join Wireless was founded in June 2013 by three Luxembourgish entrepreneurs including Pascal Koster, the former director of Tango and founder of Vox Mobile [now Orange Luxembourg]. The MVNO’s other parent, state-backed Post Luxembourg, operates 2G, 3G and 4G mobile networks in Luxembourg alongside fixed line, broadband, postal and financial services.
