Sky hopes users make a Beeline to register SIMs, encouraged by free gift ‘honeypot’

9 Dec 2014

Krygyz cellco Sky Mobile, which operates under the Beeline brand, is encouraging subscribers to register their pre-paid SIMs by offering a free white-label 3G modem supporting speeds up to 21.6Mbps with 5GB of data, plus 1,500 minutes of calls to each customer who gets 30 subscribers to register, according to Telecompaper. The promotion runs until 20 December and follows the introduction of compulsory SIM registration in Kyrgyzstan in March 2014; under the new law mobile operators will not be permitted to provide services to customers who haven’t registered. TeleGeography reported that Sky Mobile had reached 42.3% registration (just over one million SIMs) by the beginning of October.
